She wasn't an orphan, she wasn't heavily disliked or picked on and most neighbors classified her as a "good girl" due to her cheerful and friendly nature. However, asking anybody about her would reveal that they thought she was "off" nonetheless. Nobody could quite put their finger on it, they could only conclude that something was off about the girl. It wasn't that she had blue hair, it wasn't that she was perpetually happy (although that is rather odd by itself), it was more the fact that she saw things that others didn't and sometimes things just...happened when she was in proximity. The fact that people found her weird wasn't at all a surprise to Botan; she thought the floating objects and sparks that randomly happened when she was alone and the horse-like creatures she saw were weird, too. She started to worry that being a freak was all she had to look forward to in life and she would never know why she was like that. Botan thought that was all she had to look forward to, that is, until a person from Hogwarts came calling one day with a letter for her and news to accompany it. There was no dramatic reveal that all along her parents were hiding this from her, nothing complex, just a letter and an explanation from the Hogwarts staff member that brought it that she was, in fact, a witch. Given justification for the oddities in her life, Botan was able to cheerfully go down the unpredictable path that was Hogwarts and the Wizarding World in general |
